Calling all knitters!

Born to Knit is back! Today is the official launch of the 2012 Born to Knit campaign.

We are very excited. To celebrate the success of the previous campaigns, we have decided to create A website dedicated to the Born to Knit cause. Explore this new Born to Knit site for more information, and get involved!

By 1st October 2012, we aim to have  6,500 blankets that will keep vulnerable children warm and help to save the lives of children. Donated blankets will be distributed to children through our programs in Australia and countries such as Cambodia and Laos.

To make this possible, we are calling all past and present supporters of the campaign to start knitting. We invite you to get involved in the campaign and help a child stay comfortably warm and protected this winter.  Your blanket will help to ward against pneumonia, one of the biggest killers of children under five in the developing world.

How to get involved:

– Start knitting!

– Purchase a Born to Knit Kit from our online store

– Make a donation by purchasing a virtual blanket or square

– Spread the word and tell your friends and family about Born to Knit

Happy knitting everyone 🙂

Warm Wishes,

The Born to Knit team @ Save the Children Australia

Is it okay to knit a patterned blanket.I get bored with plain knitting .Will make sure dimensions are the same.

  2. I searched but could not find your new website, could you put a link to it please, unless of course it is this one here. Could you also remind us and other new knitters of the dimensions and yarn required for the blankets. thankyou.

What size do you want the blankets? Can they be crocheted?

I was just wondering can we croquet a blanket as my partner does not no how to knit but she can croquet

    • Good morning Amanda,

Although knitted blankets are warmer for the children, we always accept crochueted blankets as well :).

Have fun and can’t wait to see how the blanket turns out.
