Meet Born to Knit volunteers, Khaled and Bill!

Our knitting room was abuzz with energy and productivity last Wednesday as a group of corporate volunteers came down to help sew some knitted squares into complete blankets. We chatted with Khaled and Bill about volunteering with Born to Knit.

Have you knitted before?

Khaled: “I’ve never knitted before”.

Bill: “Never”.

What made you want to get involved with Born to Knit?
Khaled: “I read about Save the Children, and the work they do across the world with children, and thought this would be a good way to get involved”.

Bill: “I wanted to do something to help charity, and young children are especially vulnerable, so I wanted to do something that helped children in particular”.

Today, you guys came to help sew some squares together with a group from your office. Would you recommend others to get involved with Born to Knit?

Khaled: “Yes! It’s a great experience for a good cause. It’s a good and fun environment”.

Bill: “Yes, definitely. The blankets definitely go to a good cause and it’s a good group activity. No experience is needed!”

Thanks for your input lads! We agree- coming with a work group to knit or sew squares is a great way for workplaces to contribute to a good cause and have fun. No experience is needed, so if you would like to come help- simply email us at borntoknit@savethechildren.org.au

As always, happy knitting!

  1. Great to see men learning to knit to help the homeless and needy. Good on you Khalad and Bill. Keep up with it and get more friends to do it as well.
