Unilever is Knitting for Kids!

The Born to Knit Campaign would not be able to run without the efforts of our generous knitters, beginners and experts!

Unilever, one of our global corporate partners, have engaged a group of enthusiastic employees and purchased Born to Knit kits to get knitting for the campaign.

To say the staff at Unilever have embraced the Born To Knit campaign with passion is an understatement! In only 2 months, an eager team have knitted and crocheted 120 squares including 4 complete blankets.

Thanks Unilever for your support!

Remember to get your workplace involved for the Born to Knit Campaign next year in winter 2013!

Born to Knit has less than 4 weeks to go!!

Born to Knit 2012 is in its final stages, with less than four weeks to go until the end of this year’s campaign. If you have been knitting blankets and squares, it is time to finish them off and send them in!

Born to Knit would not be possible without the support from our wonderful volunteers who send us beautifully knitted squares and blankets from all over Australia.

We also appreciate the support of the additional volunteers who sew the donated squares into blankets both at home, and at our headquarters in Collingwood for children in need.

If you still have some squares or blankets for us, don’t forget to send them in before Friday 28th September 2012.

Knitted squares and blankets can be dropped off or posted directly to Born to Knit HQ in Collingwood:

Bake Sale for Born to Knit

Judith Perry came across an article of Born to Knit campaign  in ‘Take 5’ Magazine, and was instantly inspired. She worked in a community of disabled children and adults, and all of them were eager to start knitting. However, they had limited financial resources, and were unable to purchase wool to make the blankets. What they decided was to use the flour in their pantries and organised a bake sale. All the proceeds were then spent on buying wool to make blankets for the little ones.

The Born to Knit team would like to thank Judith and her friends for the ‘heaps of love’ they have shown to our community. Happy Knitting!

Born to Knit – “Lasting Tradition”

This morning, the Born to Knit team received more heartwarming letters from supporters all over Australia. Georgia Grayson, a Year 12 student studying in St Andrew’s Anglican College wrote to us describing how students, staff and parents across all levels worked, learned and knitted together.

“We had a lot of fun learning to knit with everyone from grade seven up to the Deputy Principal and Head of Secondary having a try. As we progressed the number of knitters grew ad grew; contributing to the campaign will now be a lasting tradition for the school to carry on with.”

It is not only great to know that the Born to Knit campaign is so well-received by the public, it is even more meaningful to know that the campaign has brought communities together.

Happy Knitting,

The Born to Knit Team
